About Me
Hi, I'm Lisa Xu, and I'm a graphic and web designer based in Los Angeles, California. I am 22-years-old and a recent graduate of the University of California, San Diego. I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Media Visual Arts with an emphasis in computing. Coming from a conceptual school, I did a lot of experimentation in the arts, and it was definitely an experience different from what you might think I was doing in college. However, regardless of my interesting 3 ½ years of experimental films and outside of the box art projects, I have come a long way in the world of graphic and web design. I have actually been engaged in media design since 2002, and much of it has been self-taught as I have always enjoyed using my free time to learn more about the field. I am a perfectionist
(or well I try hard to be), and I am also one of too many high standards for myself and others. As a result, I sometimes stress myself too much, but it is who I am. It keeps me grounded so I can always be on top of things which I guess can't be a bad thing, right?
Design Philosophy
My designs seek to be clean, modern, simplistic, professional, and most of all, functional. To create the perfect feel, I pay meticulous attention to every detail. I am very focused on the color schemes, typography, illustrations etc. of my work. I believe it is essential that everything must work in harmony. I specialize in mostly graphic design for web and print, but I am also knowledgeable in creating websites with HTML and CSS. Last but not least, I am familiar with how to use and design for many blogging platforms such as Blogger, Wordpress and Tumblr.
Interests
I love doing other things that involves my creativity. I enjoy photography, filmmaking, fashion, and makeup. Therefore, if I am not designing, then I am doing one or more of those things. I currently write my own beauty and fashion blog, teaching others about cosmetics and clothing trends. I also have a fond love for social media, and I am constantly utilizing it in my everyday life. I love staying connected and having everything at the tips of my fingers, hence my iPhone is my life! That's right, I am an Apple Junkie!
The Site
Everything was designed from scratch by myself using HTML & CSS. Layout is constructed with the
960 grid system. The site is best viewed on resolutions of 1024 x 768 or greater, and on browsers Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Full support on smart phone browsers are not available yet, but will be ready soon.
